A report on  "Legends & Legacies"

23rd August Friday 2024, GAABESU successfully completed the first Memorial lecture under the Series "Legends & Legacies" in the memory of our legendary teacher Prof. S.K Sen, in collaboration with the EE department of IIEST-S. 

The program was held in 'Alumni Seminar Hall' in IIEST-S campus. Prof. Ananda Mohan Ghosh (AMG), the senior teacher of the '60s, '70s, & '80s era joined us on invitation. Professor Alok Das of ME also joined. Since the Honorable Director  was out of station, his assigned deputy, Dean-IRAA Prof. Debasis Dutta also attended. Quite a number (10-15) of alumni joined physically, including one from the 1965 batch, whereas another 18+ alumni joined online. HoD Electrical presided over the function and welcomed all the Guests & students. From the GAABESU side, our Working President  Prof. Arabinda Roy led the team, followed by Malay Niyogi, Biswajit Sengupta, and myself. More than 150 students participated. Prof. Ananda Mohan Ghosh spoke in length about Prof.Sankar Sen. On behalf of GAABESU & EE Department, Prof. Ghosh (AMG) felicitated the speaker, whereas I felicitated AMG on behalf of GAABESU. Ms. Sumita Dutta Nag of 1987 EE batch, a GAABESU Member, presently, Chief General Manager - DVC, gave  the lecture "Overview of Design of a Grid Substation". 

At the end, Biswajit Sengupta (1981 EE) gave the 'Vote of Thanks'. Altogether, it was a very good program and a good opportunity, used to connect with the students, the alumni, the Institute and top of all, our teachers.
